The State, through the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), launched an important incentive for the incorporation of electric buses in the interior of the country.

This is the MOVÉS project, which opens a call to encourage urban public transport operating companies in the interior of the country to incorporate electric buses, replacing diesel units for their normal operation.

In this way, it seeks to accelerate the incorporation of electric buses in its regular services.

“This initiative is aligned with the national energy policy and the climate change policy, by promoting public transport and supporting its improvement in quality, while eliminating emissions by taking advantage of electricity of renewable and clean origin, of national production” , indicated the Ministry at the time of announcing the initiative to El Acontecer.

Through this project, urban public transport operators in the interior of the country that have applied for the subsidy for the purchase of electric buses, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the MIEM, the Ministry of Housing, Territorial Planning (MVOT) and the Ministry of Environment (MA) and the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP), will be able to access an additional fund from the MOVÉS project to support the design and installation of charging infrastructure for electric buses.

OTHER BENEFITS

The incentive will also support the performance of organizational diagnosis with a gender perspective, in order to identify currently existing gender gaps.

The call will run until December 30 at 4:00 p.m.

This initiative is part of Component 3 of the MOVÉS project for the replication of instruments within the country.

MOVÉS is executed by the MIEM, MVOT and MA. It has the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and with the collaboration of the Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation (AUCI). Its funding comes from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
